Our Story
A family tradition,
one tortilla
at a time.
Tortilleria El Carretón 2 has been a quiet fixture on State Highway 64 for years — not because we need noise, but because our customers keep coming back.
Every morning, the kitchen opens before dawn. Corn is ground, masa is kneaded, and each tortilla is pressed by hand on a comal that has seen generations of families pass through.
We don't make thousands a day. We make enough. Fresh. Warm. The kind that lifts your tacos to something worth remembering.
The Process
From corn to comal
Select the Corn
We choose nixtamalized corn — the kind that breaks down into a sweet, earthy masa. No shortcuts. No industrial blends. Just good corn, properly treated.
Press by Hand
Each ball of masa is flattened between plastic or in a molcajete, depending on the order. The thickness is felt, not measured — years of practice in the wrist.
Cook on the Comal
A hot comal, a quick flip, and the tortilla puffs — that's the sign. Wrapped in a cloth to stay soft, they go straight into your bag or onto your plate.
What We Make
Corn. Flour.
Always fresh.
Corn tortillas — our heartbeat. Small, soft, with that characteristic nixtamal flavor that makes everything they wrap taste better.
Flour tortillas — pliable, lightly browned, perfect for burritos and anything that needs to hold together without breaking.
We also make tortillas for orders — by the piece, by the pound, or by the tray. If it's on your plate, it came from our kitchen that morning.
